Coca-Cola relaunches Surge in retail stores of 23 US states

Published 09 September 2015

Coca-Cola has relaunched its citrus-flavoured, caffeinated soda Surge, which was sold in the 90s, at retail stores in 23 US states.

Surge

Surge is the first discontinued product of Coca-Cola to return to the store shelves.

It is also the first product of the company to be sold solely through e-commerce. It made its comeback via online last year.

The brand comes in its actual formula in 12-packs of 16-oz. can, which features the same retro design from yesteryear.

A limited supply of SURGE will be sold online through www.amazon.com/surge.

Coca-Cola North America president of sparkling and strategic marketing Wendy Clark said: "If expectations are met, this may be only the first of a variety of efforts we explore to launch niche products through e-commerce relationships."

"This will be a great learning experience for us and a refreshing opportunity for fans."

Coca-Cola relaunched Surge following a massive social media campaign, which was called "The Surge Movement".
