Jaindl purchases A-Treat soda brand

DBR Staff Writer Published 23 July 2015

Jaindl Companies has purchased the A-Treat soda, including its brand name, trademark, flavor formulas, and related intellectual property.

The 97-year-old brand offers around 25 different soda flavors, which are made using essential oils.

Former A-Treat president Tom Garvey said: "We are looking forward to working with the Jaindl's to assure a smooth transition as they grow and develop the brand."

A-Treat is claimed to be one of the few soda brands that uses cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup in its products. A-Treat Birch Beer is still made with real birch tree extract.

Jaindl Companies owner David Jaindl said: "Our ultimate goal is to keep as much of the production as possible in the Lehigh Valley, the original home of A-Treat.

"To do so we have entered into a co-packing agreement with the Coca-Cola® Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley."
