PepsiCo signs distribution deal with Diamond Star to enter Myanmar

PepsiCo has entered into a distribution agreement with Diamond Star, a unit of the Capital Diamond Star Group, to sell and distribute its beverage brands including Pepsi-Cola, 7-Up and Mirinda in Myanmar.

Diamond Star will purchase and import the beverage products from PepsiCo's Vietnam operations and also plans to promote PepsiCo's brands in Myanmar with a sampling campaign and outdoor advertising.

PepsiCo beverages are available to consumers in parts of the country and product availability will increase in the coming weeks.

The global beverage major also plans to explore opportunities to invest in agricultural development projects in the country.

In addition to this, the company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to partner on vocational training initiatives in Myanmar, to equip countries people with managerial skills training in order to support the country's development to strengthen its workforce.

PepsiCo chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi said that Myanmar is a market with great potential, and their agreements with Diamond Star and UNESCO are important first steps towards expanding their presence in the country.
