Refresco Gerber, Tesco partner to produce own label soft drinks

DBR Staff Writer Published 11 May 2015

British grocer Tesco has inked a new strategic deal with Refresco Gerber UK to source supply for its own label carbonated and still soft drinks.

Somerset based Refresco, the UK's largest juice producer, will supply a range of soft drinks that includes flavoured waters, mixers, sports drinks and energy drinks in PET bottles, glass bottles and cans.

Majority of the product-range would be manufactured at Refresco UK facility at Bridgwater, Somerset besides other Refresco Gerber plants in The Benelux and Spain.

The companies have been working together since 20 years. Currently, Refresco is supplying juices and juice drinks to Tesco.

Refresco Gerber UK commercial director James Logan said: "This new agreement provides us with an exciting opportunity to diversify our production capabilities into different sectors of the soft drinks category. Using Refresco Gerber's experience, gained in other markets across Europe, we will invest in new, healthy and clean production capabilities to deliver better products for Tesco's customers."

Tesco category buying manager for all ambient and chilled drinks David Beardmore said: "We are delighted to have signed a new agreement with one of our long standing supply partners. We are pleased to be growing our relationship with Europe's largest bottler of soft drinks and this long term deal gives Refresco Gerber UK the security to innovate and invest in new and exciting products for our customers."
