Starbucks launches first iced espresso beverage with coconut milk

DBR Staff Writer Published 12 July 2016

Coffee giant Starbucks has launched its first iced espresso beverage that features coconut milk.

The Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato is now available in participating company-operated and licensed stores in the US and Canada.

It is mixed with white chocolate mocha sauce and topped with caramel sauce and a swirl of mocha sauce to create five layers of espresso sweetness.

Last year, Starbucks launched single origin Sumatra Coconut Milk in Canada and the US.

Starbucks Single Origin Sumatra Coconut Milk complements the company’s hot, iced and Frappuccino blended beverages.

Commenting on the introduction of Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato, Starbucks senior product developer Christal Canzler said: “Summer is a great time to highlight coconut milk. It’s lighter in body than regular milk, and can be a little more refreshing.

“Macchiato is one of those great espresso beverages people love. With its layers of chocolate, caramel and coconut, this is a summery twist on a classic.”

Starbucks has also introduced a new Teavana iced tea for the upcoming warm and sunny days.

The Teavana Shaken Berry Sangria Herbal Tea has been introduced across the participating stores in the US and Canada.

The beverage starts with freshly brewed Teavana Iced Passion Tango Tea and Sangria syrup which features a blend of peach, elderberry, blood orange and raspberry flavors.

It will then be hand-shaken with black berries, orange slices, apple juice, and ice.
