GEA Procomac, based in Sala Baganza near Parma, designs, manufactures and installs complete filling lines, both traditional and aseptic. The company was established in 1979 and at that time its name was Procomac. The company started its activity manufacturing rinsers and conveyors; then, over a period of a few years, Procomac developed its technology and enlarged its production program. Since 1990 the company has been supplying complete lines to meet any bottling needs all over the world.
Aseptic filling technology
In 1993 Procomac pioneered the aseptic filling technology, developing the first generation of aseptic Procomac lines that use Peracetic Acid (PAA) as sterilizing medium. In 1996 Procomac introduced the microbiological isolator, now an industry standard for aseptic filling: a physical barrier around the sterilizing, rinsing, filling and capping area with no clean room.
Since then, the company has supplied over 150 aseptic lines for sensitive products such as juices, isotonic drinks, tea, milk-based beverages with and without particulate, and strengthened its leading position in the sensitive beverage filling field.
In April 2007 Procomac joined GEA Group, an international technology group that focuses on specialty mechanical engineering - especially process engineering and equipment - and plant engineering.
Today GEA Procomac offers state of the art bottle sterilization technology based on wet PAA with ECOSpin for high speed and Modulbloc for low/medium speed lines, and the preform sterilization technology with ABF (Aseptic Blow Fill), the world's first rotary aseptic blow moulding machine with an integrated aseptic filler and capper.
GEA Procomac has always considered its R&D activities to be essential to ensure its position as a technology leader.
In the last 20 years, GEA Procomac has focused on improving the reliability of its aseptic technology from a microbiological point of view, in order to guarantee the safety and the quality of each beverage.
After having achieved this essential goal, GEA Procomac concentrated in developing user friendly machine configurations that permit a simpler maintenance and require fewer operators; moreover, the company directed its attention towards the environmental impact and the consumptions of its lines and cost savings.
